First Blood '99
Congratulations (again) to Eliot Lear, and to newcomer John Oswalt, winners of the DeathScore '99 First Blood prize! Their prediction of the exit of King Hussein of Jordan (which occurred on February 7) marks the first points scored in this year's tournament. This year's prize is a miniature replica (HerpaWings 1:500 scale) of a Royal Jordanian Airlines Lockheed L-1011 TriStar. The King was popular for his piloting skills, and was type-rated for the L-1011, which he used as his executive transport. He is said to have flown his L-1011 for one final time, returning from the U.S. following unsuccessful treatment for cancer at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. |
